Before there were blogs there were these things called magazines, and the only metal magazine we still get excited about reading every month is DecibelHere’s managing editor Andrew Bonazelli…

Hall of Fame curveball alert! Bad Religion’s Suffer pops up out of seemingly nowhere for the honor. Next month: Dookie!

Just kidding (I think). You may have forgotten how incendiary, intense and powerful the L.A. outfit used to be now that they’ve produced 16 albums of—let’s be honest—roughly the same thing. But in 1988, Bad Religion were coming off a self-imposed five-year hiatus following the disastrous release of prog misfire Into the Unknown. Greg Graffin, Brett Gurewitz, Greg Hetson, Jay Bentley and Pete Finestone breathed new life into the band by refining their original approach and—in the case of Graffin and Gurewitz—striving for richly layered, provocative lyrics. Everything worked. And shit, that cover’s as iconic as any we’ve trumpeted in our mighty Hall.

So, break out your online or print dictionary, learn exactly what the fuck an “anechoic nebula” is, and check out the Suffer HOF in the new issue. Just don’t set yourself or anything around you on fire—we know the burbs suck, but you gotta deal. The more you suffer, the more it shows you really care! Right? Yeah!

The November 2013 issue of Decibel also features In Solitude, a Godflesh flexi, and a Hank 3 Q&A, and can be purchased it here. But why not just get a full subscription to ensure that you never miss an issue?
