Metal Month 2013 Soilwork

You, metal gear nerd, surely already know Toontrack, the Swedish software company that makes a number of digital audio workstation plugins designed with metal players in mind, such as Superior Drummer, EZ Drummer and the EZMix 2 “Metal Gods” expansion pack. You probably also already know that the products are endorsed and used by such metal luminaries as Devin Townsend, Tomas Haake, John Petrucci, Dave Davidson, Eyal Levi, Misha Mansooor and on and on and on. Hell, earlier this month we announced a Toontrack-sponsored contest in which fans are invited to shred over a version of Periphery’s “Erise” with the solo muted.

And now it gets even better: Toontrack is set to release eight new products — EIGHT! — geared towards metal musicians as part of their annual Metal Month this coming November. We can’t tell you what those products are yet because, well, we don’t even know. But judging by this company’s past knack for delivering exactly what metal musicians wants, we’re sure they’ll nail it. Here’s Toontrack CEO Peter Knutsson, via press release, on what to expect:

This year we present new titles that span almost all our product lines. We’ll introduce collaborations with new producers as well as the return of a few of the most popular engineers behind earlier products. There will be new drum sounds, guitar tones and mix tools that I am confident will cater to a broad segment in the metal music community.

BUT WAIT! That’s not all. Metal Month will kick off on November 1st with a live stream of a Soilwork show from near Toontrack’s headquarters in Umeå, Sweden. Toontrack.com will be the place to catch it, and we can’t think of a better way to get Metal Month going than with one of Sweden’s all-time greatest bands.
