Reckless Speculation: Are Carcass Going to Tour North America in February 2014?

Carcass 2013

When Carcass announced their very brief North American run this past fall they were careful to point out that it wouldn’t be their official, full-fledged North American tour on the Surgical Steel cycle — just a quick promo run of sorts. After all, it was only five shows. So when the hell are they gonna give Americans and Canadians the proper Carcass surgical dissection?

If Kirk Hammett is to be believed, it’ll happen in February. Metallica’s goofiest member let slip in a recent interview promoting his upcoming horror festival — Kirk Von Hammett’s Fear FestEviL (groan) — that Carcass will be performing at the event. Here’s the interview, via Lambgoat:

It’s certainly not unheard of for bands of Carcass’ stature to be flown halfway across the world for one gig. But: 1) The timing seems right for a full-fledged North American tour, 2) That’s a LONG way to fly for just one show — may as well make the most of it and do more, 3) Walker confirmed in a follow-up statement that “Fear FestEvil will be a nice ‘little’ warm up for [Carcass’s] U.S. Tour next year,” and 4) Carcass are confirmed for the 70,000 Tons of Metal Cruise which runs from January 27-31, so they’ll already be on U.S. shores during this time period. The Fear FestEviL takes place on February 6th through 8th in San Francisco.

When asked to comment further on the matter, Walker simply called us posers and walked away.
