Soreption

The 0:15-0:30 clips of the new Soreption album Engineering The Void that the band released in November were all sorts of awesome. Now we get to hear an entire song called “Breaking the Great Narcissist” via Revolver Magazine, and HOLY HELL does it ever rip faces, just like I predicted it would.

Look, this kind of tech death is not really the “it” genre anymore the way it was five years ago due to the dozens of mediocre clones that have followed since. That’s why any new additions have to bring it EXTRA hard to turn our jaded heads. And boy do Soreption do that! We’ve harped on how important memorable, well-constructed songs are in a genre like tech-death that’s so technically focused, but it bears repeating here. Needless to say (but I’m saying it anyway) these Swedes deliver on the chops end of the bargain too. “Breaking the Great Narcissit” delivers in every way it possibly could, and gives me hope that Engineering The Void will be one of the great releases of early 2014.

Stream the track below. Engineering The Void comes out on February 18th via Unique Leader.
