Cavalera Conspiracy Sign with Napalm

Cavalera Conspiracy LogoI was not especially surprised to wake up this morning to an e-mail announcing that Cavalera Conspiracy have left Roadrunner — a bunch of bands (Machine Head, Soulfly, DevilDriver, Nightwish, etc.) have left that label since last year’s layoffs did away with many members of the team artists had been working with for years.

I was, however, kinda surprised to learn that The Brothers Cavalera’s non-Sepultura reunion project has joined their form label mates DevilDriver at Napalm Records and have not joined their former label mates Soulfly at Nuclear Blast. (And by “former label mates,” I mean “Max Cavalera himself.”) Because a) as I said when Soulfly signed with NB, Max Cavalera and former Roadrunner/current Nuclear Blast A&R guru Monte Conner have literally been working together for more than two decades now, and b) not only is Soulfly with NB, but so is Cavalera’s other other project, Killer Be Killed (which also includes The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Greg Puciato and Mastodon’s Troy Sanders). So, yeah. If I had twenty bucks that Cavalera Conspiracy would land at Nuclear Blast, this morning I’d be twenty bucks poorer.

Of course, there’s no law that says Cavalera and Conner HAVE to work together ALL THE TIME. They’re allowed to have other friends and business associates. Just like Vince is totally free to get baked and listen to the new Cynic album with the dudes from Gear Gods instead of… instead of m… excuse me, I just have something in my eye. I’m not crying. I’m not crying!!!
