New England Metal and Hardcore Fest 2014

The New England Metal and Hardcore Festival has been THE destination metal festival in the Northeast for, well, pretty much forever in metal years (which are kinda like doggie years, i.e. 16 real years = like 70 metal years). While the fest often ends up being a convergence of existing metal tours there are always a few surprises and, if you live anywhere within striking distance of Worcester, MA, there’s no reason NOT to get all your metal shows for the entire spring into one crazy three-day weekend full of headbanging and partying.

And so: the full lineup for the 2014 incarnation of the fest — its 16th year! — has now been announced via the fest’s Facebook page. Since the Sunday of that weekend is Easter, this year’s fest will take place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Here’s the lineup:

Thursday, April 17th, 2014
All That Remains – Headlining, Emmure, Bleeding Through, Broken Hope, Fallujah, Gideon, Obey The Brave, Rivers of Nihil, Kublai Khan, Years Since The Storm, Young and In The Way, Enabler and Cop Problem

Friday, April 18th, 2014
Behemoth – Headlining, Whitechapel, The Acacia Strain, Slapshot, Goatwhore, 1349, Cruel Hand, Carnifex, Within The Ruins, Suburban Scum, Thy Art Is Murder, Fire and Ice, I Declare War, Naysayer, Fit For An Autopsy, Born Low, Erra, Inquisition, Black Crown Initiate, The Mongoloids, Bent Life, Warhound and Malfunction

Saturday, April 19th, 2014
Iced Earth – Headlining, Nails, Nile, Sabaton, All Out War, Ramallah, Twitching Tongues, Revamp, Scars of Tomorrow, Battlecross, Counterparts, Lionheart, Harms Way, Alpha & Omega, Those Who Fear, The Last Ten Seconds of Life, Sylar, Loyal To The Grave, Reign Supreme, King Nine Discourse, Will To Die, Barrier, Indirections and Gift Giver

As you can see, the lineup features bands from some tours that have already been announced, i.e. Metal Alliance. I’m sure we’ll see more tour announcements featuring more of these bands in the coming days and weeks. There are some seriously excellent bands on there with tours that haven’t been announced yet: Fallujah, Rivers of Nihil, Young and in the Way, Enabler, The Acacia Strain, Within the Ruins, Nails, Battlecross, Fit For An Autopsy… so let the speculation begin.

As always there’s a little something for everyone! Not a fan of Iced Earth? No big deal, just head over to the hardcore stage to watch Nails pummel faces. Really not a fan of any band that’s currently on stage? Go grab a beer and wait 30 minutes for the next awesome band to take the stage. Such is the beauty of this festival.
