Jordison Writing Myth

Everyone knows that Joey Jordison and Paul Gray wrote all of Slipknot’s best songs, right? I don’t even remember how I learned this. Which magazine was it in? Was it on a message board somewhere? It’s just one of those things that I’ve KNOWN for so long that I can’t recall a time I didn’t know it — like the alphabet, or how Lars Ulrich is a little person by legal standards.

But this isn’t true, according to Corey Taylor! (The part about Joey and Paul writing everything, I mean. Not the Lars Ulrich thing.) In a new video interview with Rock Revolt (below), helpfully transcribed by Blabbermouth, Taylor asserts:

“I know there’s this myth out there that Joey wrote everything, but that’s not at all true. We all write, and we all bring something to the table. And between me and Jim [Root, guitar] and Mick [Thomson, guitar] and Clown [Shawn Crahan, keg] and everybody [else], I think we’re gonna be able to put something really, really cool together. The dynamic will change a little bit, but as far as our approach to the music and our intensity and how much we love doing what we do, that will remain unchanged, and we’re gonna go for it just 110 percent.”

It should go without saying that nobody really knows who did what save for the members of the band. I’m skeptical that Slipknot can continue to be Slipknot (as opposed to “Slipknot”) without Jordison and Gray, but I would love to have to eat my mask.

Here’s the full interview for ya:
