Exmortus Combine Beethoven and Shred on “Moonlight Sonata” Cover

Exmortus - Slave to the Sword

Late pass, please. I was at NAMM in Anaheim when this one dropped last week.

I was expecting a whole lot more butthurt Invisible Orange commenters when this track dropped on that site; IO usually doesn’t post about shreddy bands. But Exmortus are most certain a shreddy band. And, since shred and classical go together like two nuts in a sack, it won’t surprise anyone to learn that they’ve covered Beethoven’s famous “Moonlight Sonata” in appropriately grandiose form on their forthcoming album Slave To The Sword. Exmortus tackle the piece’s lesser-known third movement, “presto agitato,” not the morose first movement with which you’re most likely already familiar, and they do an absolutely searing rendition of it. Stream it here.

In case you missed it, MetalSucks premiered the title track from Slave to the Sword in December. The album comes out on February 4th via Prosthetic Records; order it here.
