Gear Gods NAMM 2014

Our new sister site Gear Gods — the only online destination for musicians in the heavy music community — was all over the 2014 NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA last week, covering everything: video rundowns of new guitars, basses, drums and pro audio gear making their debut at the show, live artist performances, interviews with artists and more. You can check out all of that coverage here.

For now we want to share with you a few of the artist performance highlights. If you haven’t been to the NAMM Show, it’s quite the intense experience: every musical instrument and accessory manufacturer under the sun has a booth on the giant convention center floor, and many of them have little mini-stages with small PA setups for artist performances, typically about 15-20 minutes each. There are also full shows that take place at night, at venues outside the convention center but very much connected to the overall zeitgeist of NAMM. It’s quite overwhelming.

Check out footage below of Jeff Loomis and Keith Merrow jamming a Conquering Dystopia song at the Schecter booth, Felix Martin performing for Seymour Duncan pickups, ex-Animals as Leaders and ex-Animosity drummer Navene Koperweis pounding out some grooves on a Tama electronic drumkit and Intronaut performing “Above” at one of the show’s afterparties sponsored by Aguilar Amplification and Zon Guitars. This is just the tip of the iceberg; there’s a lot more where these came from, including more videos from the same performances.
