Nightwish keyboardist/vocalist Tuomas Holopainen has made a solo album called Music Inspired by the Life and Times of Scrooge, and while you might assume I mean he’s made a solo album about Charles Dickens’ legendary literary creation, Ebenezer Scrooge, I actually mean he’s made a solo album Carl Barks’ slightly-less-legendary cartoon creation, Scrooge McDuck. Y’know. From Duck Tales.

Seriously.

This is the album art:

He even got Don Rosa, the dude who wrote and drew The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck, to be in his new video for the song “A Lifetime of Adventure.” Which you should totally watch, because its hagiographic tone just makes the whole thing so much stranger:

So yeah that’s pretty weird. Maybe the character of Scrooge McDuck carries much greater import in Finland than it does here?

I will now conclude this blog post with one of my favorite internet videos of all time, just because I have an excuse to do so.
