Unsigned and Unholy: Mope, An Endless Sporadic, Orbit Culture

mope

Although saxophones in metal might no longer inspire the “OMG WTF” reaction they once did (thanks, Shining) they’re still fairly novel, and the sky’s the limit for how they can be utilized. Mope combine sleepy, late-night sax lines with downtuned stoner sludge, and the results are mesmerizing. Check it out:

An Endless Sporadic sort of remind me of a lighter, less djenty, more Dream Theater-y (via keyboards) version of Animals as Leaders. Super proggy and heady with a great ear for melodies.

Orbit Culture are from Sweden and they certainly sound like it — these guys aren’t afraid to wear their influences on their sleeves. That’s totally fine when you write songs this good, and Orbit Culture have certainly done that with their new EP Odyssey, which you can stream in full below.
