Worldwide Music Video Premiere: Protest the Hero, “Tilting Against Windmills”
Hearing the phrase “Tilting Against Windmills” in the same sentence as “Protest the Hero” and “music video” — given the band’s notorious sense of humor — might conjure up images of Canada’s finest metal export leaning up against each other and farting, or going out to a farm and cow-tipping, or one of any imaginable Jackass-style scenarios. That their new music video — their fourth from Volition — is just a collection of live clips, though, shouldn’t temper your enthusiasm: this is still Protest the Hero at their finest, being the absolutely lovable and huggable clowns we all know them to be, just on stage instead of out in the world.
The song’s title, of course, could just be a reference to “tilting at windmills,” which, according to the most reliable and infallible resource on earth, is an English turn of phrase that means fighting imaginary enemies, “where adversaries are incorrectly perceived, or to courses of action that are based on misinterpreted or misapplied heroic, romantic, or idealistic justifications.” So, ya know, that. We’ll stick with our farting theme because it’s funnier.
