Here’s Fourteen Minutes of New Conquering Dystopia Music (Jeff Loomis + Keith Merrow)

Conquering Dystopia

This Conquering Dystopia thing has taken on a life of its own! Jeff Loomis and Keith Merrow raised over $15,000 via crowd-funding in less than 24 hours last summer, and it’s all been downhill from there with the project gaining more and more hype with seemingly every passing day. Who woulda thunk that a new band with the shredder from Nevermore and a studio musician with a cult following of metal nerds would be so highly anticipated? Yet here we are, and the Internet collectively dropped its pants when Conquering Dystopia released an album teaser featuring fourteen minutes of new music over the weekend.

Of course the fact that Cannibal Corpse’s Alex Webster and The Faceless drummer Alex Rudinger play on these tracks — produced by Mark Lewis — also brings some appeal and additional star-power to the table. That certainly can’t hurt. But the impression I get is that Loomis and Merrow are the ones that make the engine go, musically speaking.

Check out the teaser below. If you’re even cursorily familiar with either of these musicians you already know pretty much what the music is gonna sound like — and if you checked out our NAMM 2014 coverage then a couple of these tunes should sound familiar to you — but here’s fourteen minutes of the album for you. What you think?

Conquering Dystopia comes out on March 10th. I wish I could tell you where to pre-order it but I can’t find a link; here’s their official website in case it pops up there eventually.
