Machine Head Chronicle Production of New Album in Video Series

Machine Head are currently hard at work on their new album, and they’ve now launched a new video series which will chronicle the production of said album. And when I say “production,” I mean “production” — as guitarist/vocalist Robb Flynn explains at the start of the video, “if you are easily bored with tech talk and microphone placement conversations,” then this series ain’t gonna be your cup of tea.

That being said, I’d encourage all Machine Head fans to watch this, even if they’re not tech nerds, ’cause there’s some very brief previews of new music, as well as the revelation that the record will include a string quartet on at least one song. Actually, I think the footage of Flynn “directing” the quartet is worth watching in and of itself, ’cause when the hell else are you gonna be allowed fly-on-the-wall status during a Machine Head recording session?

Machine Head’s new album should be out later this year on Nuclear Blast. While we all desperately wait, the band will release a special 10″ on Record Store Day (April 19), which will include a demo version of a new song called “Killers & Kings,” as well as an Ignite cover.
