Listen to Two New Cormorant Songs!

Cormorant - Earth Diver

Finally! After December’s cock-tease in the form of one new song called “Waking Sleep,” Cormorant’s new album Earth Diver is nearly here. You’ll need to wait until April 8th to get your hands on it — pre-order here — but the band has released two more songs to try and convince you that Arthur von Nagel’s departure ain’t no thang.

Even Arthur von Nagel himself thinks gave the band’s new material a vote of confidence (via MetalSucks comment!) and after hearing “The Pythia” I’m inclined to agree. This is Cormorant at their best, traversing all kinds of different soundscapes and moods throughout the course of an epic six-minute journey that doesn’t get too lost in itself. IMO things really get interesting around the 1:00 mark when the track kicks into high gear. I especially dig the dynamic that new vocalist Marcus Luscombe’s clean-sung voice brings to the fold, and I really like his bass work too. Check it out below, in addition to another new song called “Waking Sleep.”

Also: dat album artwork! Wow.

Thanks: Feind G.
