Devin Townsend’s Casualties of Cool Climb a “Mountaintop” in Creepy New Video

I haven’t heard Casualties of Cool yet. And it’s been out a whole week already! Shame on me. So watching this video for the track “Mountaintop” is my first time hearing it too, and what an introduction it is: this animated video is really, really… um, cool.

I absolutely love the creepy, penciled animation style of this video, courtesy of Owlhouse Productions. I had to watch the whole thing twice before I completely understood the storyline, so here’s a synopsis for you that was posted along with the video:

It follows the story of a traveller who is lured to a sentient planet which feeds off of the fears of its inhabitants. He finds solace in old objects he finds there, including a vintage radio and a phonograph, and eventually confronts his fears. In turn, his actions free a woman trapped inside the planet.
