Listen to System of a Down’s Serj Tankian Sing on an EDM Track by Benny Benassi

I readily admit that I know less than nothing about EDM. I don’t really get why thousands of people would gather to watch a guy push buttons on a laptop, but I guess it’s about dancing and the shared experience… not unlike moshing? The kids seem to like it. I’m officially old.

In any case, System of a Down’s Serj Tankian lent his voice to a new track by EDM DJ Benny Benassi called “Shooting Helicopters” — no reference to this video of Trash Talk’s bassist nailing a drone from the sky with a beer can — and I rather like it! I’ve always enjoyed Serj’s voice — SO recognizable and singular — and the track is pretty cool on its own, too. Here’s a three-minute preview of the track, the full version of which will be out soon.
