Dime was about twenty-four when Pantera really started to take off with 1990’s Cowboys from Hell — but, of course, that was the result of years and years of hard work. Case in point: this video Guitar World dug up of Dime, age eighteen, just totally wrecking the fretboard in 1984, when Pantera were still in their glam stage and the revered guitarist was still known as “Diamond Darrell.” Little wonder that Dave Mustaine would try to recruit him for Megadeth just a couple of years later.
