The “VVorld Demise” of The Acacia Strain

“VVorld Demise” is the third song we’re hearing from The Acacia Strain’s new album Coma Witch, and, well, I’m no more optimistic that the album is gonna knock ’em dead than I was after hearing the first two. None of these songs are bad by any means, they’re just… missing something. They’ve got the groove, they’ve got the anger, there are even some catchy parts, but the songs just aren’t connecting with me.

Could it be that the dismissal / departure of longtime TAS songwriter/guitarist Daniel “DL” Laskiewicz is to blame? I’ll leave you guys to decide, but the fact that the band retained him as a songwriter and producer for years even though he didn’t tour with them should tell you something about his role and importance.
