evan brewerUPDATE, 9:37 a.m.: Looks like drummer Alex Rudinger has left the band, too! Says Rudinger via Facebook:

“After much thought I’ve decided that it is time for me to leave The Faceless to pursue other projects and seek out other opportunities. I will be looking for work; I love touring, writing, and recording and plan on doing all of these things for a long time to come. I would like to thank the band, as well as every person that attended a show in the last two years. I saw a lot of places and made some great friends along the way; it was a great experience.

“I’d also like to apologize to any fans that were planning on coming out to see me with the band next week at Knotfest, as well as Europe next month. I’m sure I will see you all again at some point in the future!

“I wish the band the best of luck, I have no doubts they will continue onward. Thanks.”

Responding to fans in the comments section, Rudinger adds:

“You don’t have to worry about [me leaving Conquering Dystopia]! Love those guys. We will do more with it as our schedules permit. Thanks for the ongoing support!”

And:

“THANK YOU to everyone for the kind words and comments! To all the people that are bummed, I’m sorry. But it was a necessary. I hope you all will continue to follow my work as I do other things. The ongoing support is incredibly appreciated.”

Looks like we have a Chimaira-esque mass exodus on our hands. We’ll let you know if any of the band’s remaining members ALSO announce their departure from the group…

Remember when Evan Brewer missed a bunch of live shows with The Faceless, and we speculated that he could be out of the band? Well, it turns out, we were totally right! We were just, y’know. Thirteen months ahead of schedule in reporting the news.

Brewer made the announcement via Facebook:

“After almost four years of good times with The Faceless I’ve decided to leave the band. I just feel that it’s time for me to make this move because I want to make new music, do more teaching, and to also have availability for any musical opportunities that may arise. The Faceless is a full time band and they need members who can commit to that schedule. I would like to thank the fans of the band for embracing me and encourage them to continue their support of The Faceless.”

Of course, joining and leaving The Faceless is a rite of passage for any young metal musician these days, the prog-death equivalent of a bar mitzvah. Today, Evan Brewer is a man! Pretty soon his voice will change and he’ll start to get hair in weird places and he won’t like Metallica anymore. We’re so proud.

ANYWAY, as of this writing, The Faceless have yet to issue any kind of statement of their own, or announce the identity of their next future former member. Here are a bunch of random dudes doing Faceless bass covers on YouTube, in case they need any ideas. I’m sure any of these guys would be honored to be a part of The Faceless and then no longer be a part of The Faceless.
