Ihsahn Parts Way with Leprous, Teases New Album in 2015

IhsahnThat Ihsahn is working on new music shouldn’t be all that surprising; he’s always been incredibly prolific, and by the time 2015 rolls around it will have been two years since 2013’s Das Seelenbrechen. So perhaps the most interesting tidbit in a recent Facebook post by Ihsahn, brought to our attention by Metal Injection, is that he’s moving forward without Leprous, who have served as his live backing band for years now:

On the live front, several shows are all ready announced for 2015, and I’m excited to tell you that I’ll be back on stage with a new, handpicked line-up that I am confident will take my songs to a new dimension.

On that note, I’d like to thank Leprous for a fantastic collaboration over many years!! They have been invaluable in getting my songs to the stage and we’ve had some great trips around the world. Maybe now we’ll actually get to watch each other’s shows.

So, that, like, sucks a lot and stuff. Leprous are a phenomenal band on record, and those who saw them live (with or without Ihsahn) couldn’t stop raving. On the other hand, the only man writing Ihsahn’s music has always been Ihsahn, so it shouldn’t affect his output much. Plus, it’s not like we ever get to see Ihshan live in the U.S. anyway. There could be any number of reasons for the split so we won’t even begin to conjecture, but let’s hope that this means we’ll get to see more of both bands on the road here in the States.

For more on what Ihsahn has been up to (writing, rebuilding his studio), read his post here. Let’s hope for a new record in 2015.
