The latest Spotify playlist by a celebrity (in metal terms, at least) arrives today courtesy of The Black Dahlia Murder’s Trevor Strnad, who has posted a collection of his favorite metal songs of 2014 on the streaming service. And it’s great! You may or may not agree with Strnad’s selections, but whereas a surprising amount of metal musicians do not really keep up-to-date on the very genre which they play, there’s no denying that Strnad is a dude who keeps his ear to the ground. I’m familiar with a good portion of this playlist, but there’s also a lotta shit on here I didn’t get to or even hear about in 2014. And the playlist is more than four-and-a-half hours long, so it should keep you entertained for awhile. I’m stoked to crank this shit all afternoon and learn about some sweet, sweet new jams.

Stream Strnad’s selections below. If you enjoy it: two years ago Strnad made a death metal playlist for MetalSucks, with which we included an interview about the genre. Read/listen here.
