Couple Makes Wedding Gown + Tux from Old Metal T-Shirts and Patches

Everything about this couple is irritating to the point where I want to punch them, myself, and everyone else in the world in the face, but it’s still of interest I guess.

Ainsley and Sebastien (last names unknown… or maybe they’re just single-name people, like Madonna or Slash) met when Sebastien served Ainsley at their local organic coffee shop. They dropped the L-word (“love,” not “lesbian” or “lesbians”) after three dates and moved in together after three weeks, but didn’t get married until they’d been together for five years. Elite Daily reports (by way of Rock N’ Roll Bride, “The Ultimate Guide for Alternative Brides”) that when they did get married, “They got a team to customize their wedding dress and suit, making them a little edgier for the day.” That dress and suit looked like this:

metal wedding gown and tuxedoI don’t object to the idea of having a bunch of band logos on your wedding outfits, but something about hiring “a team” to make those outfits really rubs me the wrong way. Think about it in terms of the classic metal denim vest: isn’t the idea not just to select which bands you’ll rep in the form of patches, but to sew those patches on yourself? Isn’t that the true DIY ethic everyone claims to cling to so dearly? Wouldn’t taking the time to do that work just make the vest all the more special to you? Maybe Ainsley and Sebastien really do sit around and jam to Metallica, Slayer, and Pantera, but this just makes them come across as poseur d-bags.

Or maybe I’m just jealous because they seem happy. I do absolutely LOATHE happy people.

You can read more about this charming couple here and here.

Thanks: Mick
