At Last, Stream Royal Thunder’s Crooked Doors in its Straight Entirety

  • Axl Rosenberg

Royal Thunder - Crooked DoorsNot that we didn’t know this was coming… but now it’s here!

NPR is streaming Royal Thunder’s sophomore album, Crooked Doors, in advance of its release April 7 on Relapse. Although, given the number of individual songs the band has previously released, you’ve more or less heard the entire record, this is your first chance to listen to it all the way through from start to finish, with the tracks in the order the band intended.

Which is important! We live in a time when the very concept of “the album” as a cohesive entity seems to be fading from the minds of too many musicians and fans alike. The fact that Crooked Doors even tries to take you on a full journey which feels like one unified statement is admirable… the fact that they pull it off is just awesome.

Listen here! Royal Thunder hit the road with Wild Throne in May; get tour dates here. And don’t forget to check out our recent podcast interview with bassist/vocalist Mlny Parsonz, who was in an actual cult, not just a stupid For Today-style cult.
