Unsigned and Unholy: Human Improvement Process, Klone, Bayeux

Human Improvement ProcessThe Deciblog premiered this Human Improvement Process video for “Tortured Hands of Reason,” and I’m hooked: the Italian band brings exactly the kind of death metal grooves that make me feel special in all the right places. Think Decapitated, but with more overtly melodic guitar hooks. EP Enemies of the Sun is out now on Memorial Records, but the band is still without a U.S. deal.

What would happen if Katatonia ventured into full-on post-rock territory? France’s Klone are a pretty good approximation: they know how to be heavy, and they know how to be dramatic, but there’s a certain ethereal quality that Yann Ligner’s vocals bring to the table. Check out the track “Immersion” below from Here Comes the Sun, which comes out on April 27th.

I don’t know enough about punk to reference the proper touchstones for Bayeux, but I’m venturing that if you dig Strung Out and Bad Religion, as I do, you’ll probably dig these guys too. They’ve also got a streak of something heavier and more modern, like Cancer Bats, although I can’t place it. Maybe even a touch of Norma Jean? Here’s the Bayeux EP, out now:
