Superjoint Ritual Plotting Tour

Superjoint Ritual Housecore Horror Fest 2014Last year, a revamped version of Superjoint Ritual known for legal reasons simply as “Superjoint” reunited for the second annual Housecore Horror Festival in Austin, TX (which is where the above photo was taken). So, not entirely surprising news: the band is now apparently planning to hit the road later this year.

The news comes from an AXS.com piece on Warbeast:

“Warbeast drummer Joey ‘Speedy’ Gonzalez, in fact, is also in Anselmo’s solo band Phil Anselmo & The Illegals and confirmed to AXS off camera after this interview… that Superjoint is planning to fully reunite for a tour this year, on the heels of last October’s one-off performance at the Housecore Horror Film Festival in Austin.”

Of course, since this happened off camera (and off the record? I hope not!), Gonzalez or someone else from the Superjoint camp could deny it. But I’m hoping it’s true!

Sadly, the last time I saw Superjoint Ritual was at Ozzfest 2004 at Jones Beach, and the performance was, er, interesting. This was before Dimebag was killed, of course, and there were a LOT of Pantera shirts in the crowd, which I guess made Phil cranky, because at one point, apropos of nothing, he proclaimed “Pantera is dead.” A substantial portion of the crowd then started to boo, and the performance never quite recovered. It’ll be nice to have a metaphorical mulligan for that show.

We’ll let you know more as soon as we do. In the meantime, here’s some video footage from last year’s Housecore gig:
