Myrkur: “Hævnen” Isn’t Too Far Away

peter lorre mOn August 21, Relapse will release M, the debut full-length from Myrkur. The one-person black metal project from Ex Cops chanteuse Amalie Bruun released an absolutely stellar self-titled EP last year, so I’m delighted to report that the first single from M, the pain-in-the-ass-to-type “Hævnen,” is very promising! By which I mean I really dig all of it… save for the twenty-two seconds starting at the 1:33 mark, during which time it sounds like a cheesy pagan metal song. Then again, the song is called “Hævnen,” so I guess it really should have at least one part that sounds hævnenly.

Check out “Hævnen” below. M, which was produced by Garm from Ulver, can now be pre-ordered in physical formats here and the digital format here. Alas, it does not contain a cover of “In the Hall of the Mountain King.”
