Swallow the Sun Show Their Acoustic Side on “Pray for the Winds to Come”

0

Swallow the Sun’s forthcoming TRIPLE album is a mighty impressive feat. Not only did they write three frickin’ albums — I mean, for fuck’s sake, that’s a lot of music! — but each one is completely different. Songs from the North I is what we’ve come to love and expect from Swallow the Sun — super melancholy, soul-aching, heart-wrenching death-doom — while II shows their acoustic, more pensive side and III is the heaviest of the bunch, promising “conscience-crushing funeral doom.” YEAH!

Fittingly, the band is in the process of giving us a taste of each album. “Heartstrings Shattering,” from I, gave us our tried and true Swallow the Sun fix, while today’s new jam “Pray for the Winds to Come,” is a beautifully orchestrated, low-key number, perfect for an evening beside the fireplace during the darkest days of most frigid winter. It’s positively gorgeous, yet it still makes me well up with tears. Stream it below.

Now I’m really looking forward to hearing what III has in store. Funeral doom from Swallow the Sun, finally! Stoked.

Songs From The North I, II & III come out on November 13th via Century Media.
