Toothgrinder Remain Trapped in “The House (That Fear Built)”

0

The gentlemen and scholars at Metal Injection recently premiered the video for “The House (That Fear Built)” by New Jersey death-thrashers Toothgrinder. You can check it out below.

What’s cool about this band is that they hit you with an immediate, no-holds-barred assault, similar to how my favorite Montanans Walking Corpse Syndrome do. There’s a quick blast of riffs, vocals, and percussion, all hitting the listener at once and not relenting until the end. Sure, the chorus plays with some clean vocals here and there, but they don’t do anything to slow down or change the tone of the song. The video suits the music, too — just a nonstop barrage of jarring imagery and madhouse hallucinations. It makes sense that these guys are from Jersey, as this track reminds me a lot of what I grew up listening to all the time on WSOU.

Anyway, check out “The House (That Fear Built)” below. The band’s latest, Nocturnal Masquerade, drops January 29th, 2016 via Spinefarm. You can pre-order it here.
