Check Out France’s Rise, Produced by Former Textures Guitarist Jochem Jacobs

Just as Textures have returned with their first new releases since 2011’s Dualism, so the band’s former guitarist, Jochem Jacobs, has now returned with his first producing gig for a studio album since that very same record.

Coincidence?!?! Probably. Smooth segue?!?! Nope.

Still: Rise, from France, will release their debut album, the Jacobs-produced Renaissance, digitally on December 8… a full year after Vince first spotlighted the band and album in an ‘Unsigned & Unholy’ column. You can check out the first single, “About War,” via the below video. It’s not quite my cup of tea — I like the heavy parts, but there’s too much early/mid-90s alt-rock-style reverb-soaked barely-singing. But it is very hear why this particular band wanted to work one of the djent’s forefathers. And as far as I can tell, Jacobs did a good job, which is not surprising.

So… maybe you’ll dig?
