Extremist Christian Pastor Blames Le Bataclan Victims for Their Own Deaths

0

Anyone using the Internet in the past three days has seen a lot of different reactions Friday’s terrorist attacks in Paris. Conservative, liberal, progressive — everyone has been responding in their own way. But what seems to be the general consensus is that the death of these people was a senseless tragedy. That these people were murdered in cold blood.

But not according pastor Steven Anderson of the Faithful World Baptist Church. Anderson thinks that the attendees of Friday night’s Eagles of Death Metal concert at Le Batclan should have known that being gunned down was part of the bargain. In his rant against the band and its fans, Anderson implies that those who listen to rock n’ roll music of a dubious nature are asking to be killed by religious extremists.

The full video of Anderson’s sermon, in which he goes into a fit describing EoDM frontman Jesse Hughes, can be watched below, but here’s the real gist of it:

“When you go to a concert of death metal, somebody might get killed! You know, you’re worshiping death! And then, all of a sudden, people start dying!… Well, you love death so much, you bought the ticket, you love worshiping Satan! Well, let’s have some of Satan’s religion come in and shoot you! I mean, that’s what these people should think about before they go into such a wicked concert.

“And look I’m not condoning what these Islamic murderers did, they’re wicked, they’re murders. But you know what, nobody should be at a concert worshiping Satan with this drug pushing hillbilly faggot. And that’s what he is. I mean all you have to do is just Google this band. Somebody told me, somebody emailed me and told me ‘just hit Google Images, Eagles Of Death Metal‘ and these guys are just total sodomite looking freaks. You know, but nobody thinks about that. It’s just ‘oh no, let’s stand with France.’”

Ignoring the much-repeated fact that Eagles of Death Metal aren’t a death metal band and that Faithful Word is a designated hate group, let’s look at Anderson’s reasoning: if you like rock music that isn’t Christian and maybe questions common sexual mores, you have to take responsibility for the fact that non-Christian zealots might blow you away in an act of terrorism. Seeing as rock is Satan’s music and Islam is Satan’s religion, it’s only fitting that they should come together in an explosion of bloodshed.

But first off, isn’t Anderson the one who’s in love with death and Satan here? His single sentence of backpedalling has none of the fervor that his celebration of the murder of rockers does. Anderson seems to think that Islamic extremists were giving the attendees their just desserts, slaying them according to his strict Christian doctrine. He doesn’t want people to just ‘stand with France’ because, in his mind, the right thing happened in Paris.

And second, if Islam is the Devil’s religion, why would Muslim extremists murder their own followers? What’s the good of killing off Satanists if you’re a soldier in the Devil’s army? If anything, ISIS should be funding rock concerts around the world, right?

Of course, this is all me trying to reasonably talk around an obvious point: fuck this piece of living shit. Fuck his loudmouth sermon, fuck his belittling of the pain of others, and fuck the tyrant deity he created in his own image rather than the other way around. Fuck all religious extremism, whether it blows away innocent people or mocks the heartache of their loved ones by claiming that they were responsible for their own deaths.

You can watch this Chris Evans-looking tadpole below. May he and ISIS burn in the same Hell.
