Hello MetalSucks reader! Welcome to the new Shit That Comes Out Today, your satanic bible of this week’s heavy new releases. We list ‘em, we spotlight ‘em, we link you to their preview jams and full streams — and we stick ‘em in a fancy Spotify playlist too (below) — all for your jammage! Now crank this shit up!

The Female Of The Species (I, Voidhanger)
On a playlist with: Myrkur, Mare Cognitum, Nyx
Listen The Female Of The Species full stream (here)

The Female Of The Species is a straightforward and female-fronted black metal album. Also, it’s excellent! The waste-no-time approach is the payoff here — listeners should expect overwhelming feels, a higher sense of awareness, deeper understanding, etc. This is one of only a handful of albums this year which excels beyond reasonable criticism. It’s hard to find fault in something truly well-engineered, even if you’re not in that particular market.

Enterprise EarthEnterprise Earth
Patient 0 (Stay Sick)
On a playlist with: Whitechapel, Beneath The Massacre, Suicide Silence
Listen Patient 0 full stream (here)

We all know a one-upper: a person who tries to top everybody’s achievements and then makes a show of it. Patient 0 starts the one-up process, but doesn’t really follow through (a good thing). Okay, prerequisite: You like deathcore. But with all the slam-slam-slam-noodle-noodle-noodle, there is something slightly restrained (lol) here, leaving room for interesting songwriting and consistent walls of noise, at least. On the Attila guy’s label.

Shaving The WerewolfShaving The Werewolf
The Pissing Link (Negative Vibe)
On a playlist with: fecal matter
Listen The Pissing Link full stream (here)

The more astute readers among y’all will have noticed our top-15 lists posted recently. Well and good, but what’s needed now is a bottom-15 list. I’m not a mathematician, but I do not think numbers go low enough to accurately rank this album, and yes, I am aware of negative infinity. Some shite albums are endearing, like when a child gives you a demonstrably terrible drawing. I wouldn’t hang The Pissing Link over my toilet.

With Hunger Undying (ATMF)
On a playlist with: Krallice, Bosse-de-Nage, Abyssal
Listen With Hunger Undying full stream (here)

Sometimes it’s the cover artwork which draws you to an album, not just what some asshole online told you. The outside should somehow embody and summarize the spirit of what’s within, and so it is: With Hunger Undying is as disorientating and off-putting as its packaging. Weird? That word, even without any negative connotations, is just not enough, nor is “eccentric.” Come up with you own!

10100||00101 (Hell Comes Home)
On a playlist with: one part Deftones, one part BTBAM, one part Bongripper
Listen “The Lighthouse” (here)

Yes, you need to be a computer to pronounce the name of this album, but you don’t have to be one to hear it. Oftentimes progressive bands play over your head, not with complexity but with general senselessness. Instead of spilling out all over the place, 10100||00101 has a rigid container of welcomed comforts: semi-predictable movements, straightforward guitar solos, and good head-bop vibes.

Rocket Science (Ripple)
On a playlist with: Ufomammut, Electric Wizard, Bongzilla
Listen Rocket Science full stream (here)

Psychedelic metal is for many folk monolithic: it’s trip music, useless and unlistenable when un-baked. While Rocket Science is not particularly distinctive (culprit: repetitiousness), there is an unbroken momentum which can carry the sober mind along. Also, the vocals are at minimum interesting, lending smoother feels and less drone than some soundalikes. “That’s great and all,” you’ll say, as you bust out your massive black bong with lime-green pentagrams on it.
