Rivers of Nihil Swap Drummers Ahead of Winter Tour with Dark Sermon and Black Fast

Sick drummers apparently grow on trees in Eastern Pennsylvania. After parting ways with original drummer Ron Nelson following the Conscious Seed of Light touring cycle Rivers of Nihil imported Alan Balamut from NYC, but now that the latter has left the band — amicably, due to his desire to finish up school — the guys have gone local once again with the immensely talented Dylan Potts, who you may’ve seen behind the kit on the band’s recent run with Hate Eternal. And that’s just ONE band; Jesse Beahler of Black Crown Initiate (who previously wasted away but probably got a nice paycheck in Rings of Saturn) and Alustrium’s Chaz Squillace are two more super-skilled death metal skinsmen from the area.

Rivers of Nihil are getting ready to head out on tour in February and March with Dark Sermon and Black Fast (dates reposted below). Now that Potts is an official member of the band, they’ve released a video of him playing through “Perpetual Growth Machine” from the band’s recent release Monarchy. Ye gads — those feet! Fucking A, man. Watch it below. But first, a parting statement from Balamut:

Hey everyone. I’m sure many of you already know and some may not but I have decided to part ways with Rivers of Nihil a few months ago in good terms. The reason is simply that I need to financially situate myself (NYC isn’t easy) and my urge to finish school in Music Production. I found Dylan Potts just before my departure and I believe he fits in and performs with the band in phenomenal ways.

The whole ride was an amazing and unforgettable experience and I have nothing but respect for each member, former member, our manager, all the people I’ve met and Metal Blade Records. In the meantime I’ll be doing session work and other music productions, and I’ll be more open for touring after I finish school in 2016– and if Rivers ever need any assistance, I’ll be right there for them. I wish the band all the success for next year and beyond!
