Here’s Some Music by Mark Morton’s New Instrumental Project

0

Mark Morton’s always been his own man. During the drama surrounding Randy Blythe’s trial, he worked on solo material, and his Twitter account is full of sage wisdom about, and boundless praise for, music outside of metal. The dude obviously doesn’t feel the need to fit into any mold.

Case in point: Morton has released some music from his new instrumental project. I’m not sure if the band/project is called SnowBound or if that’s the name of the song, but either way, you can hear it below. Jean-Paul Gaster of Clutch plays drums on the track.

Overall, the song is crunchy as Hell, with a bit of prog rock, psychedelia, and jazz thrown into the mix, but there are still some big roaring parts throughout, and overall the track accurately shows off Morton’s versatility as a guitarist. It may not be what your everyday Lamb of God fan is looking for when he he/she puts something on, but it’s super-listenable and totally worth a spin.

We’ll have to see how far Morton takes “SnowBound,” but right now we aren’t discounting the chances of this track being turned into a twenty-minute live jam best listened to with a head full of LSD.
