The Heaviest Thing You Will Hear Today: Conan’s New Album Revengeance

0

Before writing this post, I wrote the headline, just as you see it right now. Then I looked back in the MetalSucks archives for stories we’d written in the past about Conan and came upon Cat Jones’ review of their 2014 release Blood Eagle. That writeup’s title: “Album Review: Conan’s Blood Eagle is Their Heaviest Release to Date.”

So yeah, a line is the most direct path between two points: Conan are really fucking heavy. The British doom trio’s latest, Revengeance, which comes out this Friday via Napalm Records, may have even one-upped their last effort: just a few seconds after hitting “play” you know you’re in for a menacing sledgehammer of a doom album, delivered one decisive, deliberate blow at a time. The riffs are powerful, the tone is massive and the compositions are absolutely grandiose; these three qualities are all I ever ask from a doom record, and Conan have delivered them here in spades.

Stream Revengeance below via Noisey and order it here. Stay tuned for an announcement regarding Conan, MetalSucks and a particular March festival in Austin, Texas very soon.
