Announcing the 2016 “South by South Death” Official MetalSucks SXSW Showcase!
Update: Toothgrinder have regrettably been forced to drop off the bill. They’ve been replaced with Khemmis.
Original Post: South by South Death is back for its sixth year! The official MetalSucks SXSW showcase will once again be held at East 6th Street’s most metal venue — The Dirty Dog — on Wednesday, March 16th.
As usual, the lineup’s got a little something for everyone, with a wide variety of metal bands set to lay waste to the stage. Kicking things off will be Expander, a ripping, thrashing, punk/metal hybrid from Austin we profiled in our Converse Rubber Tracks x MetalSucks series last year. InAeona will keep it going with their own brand of spacey, atmospheric, intense Morrissey Metal, followed by Toothgrinder and Lord Dying, who will bring doses of grind-infused Deftones-isms and hammering stoner riffs, respectively. Conan will give us our requisite, much needed dose of doom — and likely the most pummeling onslaught of the night — while Monuments will close things out with a groove-filled, progressive metal funfest. Like we said… something for everyone!
Doors are at 7pm and the show is 21+. SXSW Music badges and wristbands will be honored, although the general public will be able to purchase a limited number of tickets at the door for a modest fee (to be determined, but past years have all been $13), so make sure you arrive early.
See you at South by South Death!
