Ministry frontman Al Jourgensen has a new project that looks like an early contender for the best band name of 2016: Surgical Meth Machine. That’s a band name that hardly even needs a headline — it’s incredible just on its own.

But how is the music? As you would probably expect from a project called Surgical Meth Machine, “Tragic Alert,” the group’s new single, is fast-paced and utterly relentless. The drums sound a lot more like machine guns than actual drums, and the song is chock full of gang vocals, sound bites, and chaotic thrash goodness; the fact that the the lyrics are borderline punk rock in some place, such as in the chorus, just makes it all the more fun to listen to.

But the album, which will be self-titled, isn’t just all meth speed aggressiveness, according to Jourgensen:

“Going through this album is a really long, strange journey. The album starts out beating you over the head with some of the fastest stuff that’s probably ever been recorded, at least that’s cohesive. Then, it ends sounding damn near like a lounge act, with me crooning like Wayne Newton or some shit.”

Surgical Meth Machine drops worldwide April 15 via Nuclear Blast. You can preorder the album here and watch the “Tragic Alert” video (with sing-along lyrics included) below.
