Jim Breuer Says Brian Johnson “Kicked to the Curb” by AC/DC

Update, 4:29 p.m.: Metal Insider now reports that Breuer has rescinded his earlier statement:

Original story follows below.

As you are probably aware, last week, AC/DC announced that they were postponing the last ten shows of their North American tour because vocalist Brian Johnson had been advised by doctors “to stop touring immediately or risk total hearing loss.” But now comedian and metalhead Jim Breuer, who is apparently pals with Johnson, is claiming the story is more or less bullshit.

According to CantonRep.com, Breuer gave the below account of events on his podcast, The Metal in Me:

“(Brian) said that he called and let (AC/DC and Young) know, ‘Hey this is what the doctor said, but let’s try to figure this out. I don’t think it’s as bad as he said it is.’ Literally the next day in the press, it was ‘Brian Johnson, tour canceled, he’s losing his hearing.’”

Breuer continued:

“(Brian said) ‘I would really like to finish and do some shows. I think we can knock this out.’ Then all his luggage that he toured with showed up at his driveway. There’s been no calls. No, ‘How’s your hearing? How’s your health?’ Boom. Here’s your (stuff), nice to know you.”

So the question here is really whether or not you consider Breuer a credible source of intel… but given his position in showbiz, it seems entirely possible that he’s telling the truth.

Which, obviously, would blow goat(boy)s. I mean, as of right now, at least, Angus Young and company have managed to go their entire careers without getting a reputation for being rockstar d-bags. Between this and all of 2014/5’s Phil Campbell legal nonsense, that could change before Young finally hangs up his schoolboy uniform for good.
