Slayer’s “You Against You” Video is an Orgy of Biker Violence

Whether or not you liked Slayer’s latest album, Repentless — and I didn’t — you have to admit that the video for the title track is fucking boss, the kind of explosion of blood and rage that should come from Slayer’s music.

Well, the band has now released a video for the track “You Against You,” which acts as a prequel for the “Repentless” video, and thankfully it continues the tradition. Our story opens with a human corpse turned into a pincushion of knives and ends with our one-eyed bandit — Hatchet III’s Jason Trost — being put into the cell he’ll eventually escape from to start a bloody riot.

Some things stand out in the “You Against You” video. First, the action is dynamite, a fantastic ballet of knife-fights and head shots. Second, it actually makes the track feel a little cooler than it is; with your headphones on, all you notice is Tom saying, “SO WHAT!”

And finally, the video raises a lot of questions as to what happened before its events, and what happened after the prison riot. Who is the pregnant woman? Did the one-eyed bandit start the riot to kill the skinheads as an act of revenge (I’d be totally down to watch a Slayer anti-Nazi revenge tale)? Will this begin a Momento-style backwards tale via videos from the new Slayer album? A lot to think about.

For now, watch “You Against You” below. Repentless is out now on Nuclear Blast.
