Shake Your Tailfeather to Poison Rites’ New Four-Song Demo

0

When I interviewed Reed Bruemmer, former frontman of Denver thrashers Speedwolf, we talked at great length about his new band Poison Rites, a garage rock outfit which, though not as chuggy and metallic as Speedwolf, still packs a nasty, energetic punch. I’d heard the band’s initial two-song demo, and was hungry for more.

Well, now we can all enjoy the fruits of Reed’s labor, as Poison Rites’ four-song demo is available on YouTube. The demo is eleven-plus minutes of violent, danceable rock and roll that will please the Motörhead fan in us all, and will really appeal to anyone who thinks pumping their fist and yelling, “FUCK MY LIFE” is a legitimate form of expression. And as with Speedwolf, there’s something genuine about Poison Rites’ music–it doesn’t sound like a bunch of hipsters singing about bikes and chick because they love the Rolling Stones. It’s vital and honest and kicks ass at an expert level. I fucking love this shit.

Anyway, listen to Poison Rites below. We’ll let you know if a studio full-length is on the way.
