WSOU Picks of the Week: Fallujah, Architects and Red Handed Denial

0

Seton Hall University’s WSOU radio is the only all-metal, all-the-time station currently broadcasting in the US, and as been a force in metal for DECADES. It’s also streamable online from anywhere in the world! Each week, the staff of WSOU shares their picks for the heaviest of the heavy, as well as the station’s charts for that week, right here on MetalSucks. Enjoy:

Fallujah – “Abandon” (Garren)

Following in the direction of their first single, “The Void Alone,” Fallujah’s new track “Abandon” seems to make even more use of atmospheric elements. The result is that this track is much mellower, even soothing to listen to, as incredulous as that sounds. It would appear that with this new album, Fallujah are crafting a symphony of violence.

Architects – “Gone With the Wind” (Nick)

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Architects definitely understand that saying, following up their remarkable 2014 album Lost Forever // Lost Together with two singles from their upcoming album All Our Gods Have Failed Us that have shown that the heavy, groovy, in-your-face sound they perfected on the last album isn’t going anywhere. Vocalist Sam Carter has one of the best voices in metalcore and is viciously spitting out lyrics that are very conscious of the world today. The breakdowns on “Gone With the Wind” are huge, and you know when to brace yourself because of the band’s signature catchy repeated line that lets you know that all havoc is about to occur. The song features a clean section with singing that takes it down a notch before punching you in the face at the end. There are a lot of atmospheric vibes throughout this track that really add to its ambience. This will definitely be a huge contender for album of the year and these tracks will fit in well with “Naysayer” and “Gravedigger” from their last album.

Red Handed Denial – “Manipulator” (Rachel)

This female-fronted progressive rock band from Toronto is definitely something to check out. Releasing their third album Wanderer, “Manipulator” is one of two singles released. Lauren Babic’s vocals, which can also be heard on her YouTube channel where she covers various songs, are strong and captivating. The band’s sound overall is very unique and I am personally very excited to hear the album in full.
