Stream Wings Denied’s Proggy New Voyager EP in Full

0

Perhaps you recall Wings Denied from when we wrote about them back in 2014, or maybe you caught them on tour with MS scribe Dave Mustein’s band Inanimate Existence that same year. Mayhaps you’re already a fan of the DC outfit, whose music Axl called “some really good, melodic, proggy-but-not-lost-up-its-own-bunghole metal.” Or you might be asking why the hell we think you’d remember a band we wrote about twice two friggin’ years ago.

No matter: Wings Denied are about to release a new EP called Voyager, it rules, and you should listen to it right quick! New Noise has the stream, embedded below, and, well, Axl’s prior description is really right on the money: it’s clear these guys listen to a lot of prog metal both classic and new — I’d venture that Protest the Hero, Periphery, Intronaut and The Safety Fire are pretty high up on their list of modern influences, and I’d guess they grew up on Dream Theater and Tool —  but they’re not dicks about the fact that they’re good at their instruments, and they’re particularly focused on the fine art of writing memorable songs. I haven’t included the aforementioned influences to imply Wings Denied ape those bands, because they most certainly don’t; they’ve got, like, their own thing, for sure, which you’ll discover for yourself when you press play.

Voyager comes out this coming Friday. Order links: Physical | iTunes | Google Play.
