Dust Moth Scale

It’s a so-called “good problem”: an album is so awesome that a writer refrains from mentioning it. In this case, it’s an EP that arrived unheralded via a small indie label in 2014. It was created by members of artsy bands and matched the stride of heavy music’s most euphoric albums. One MetalSucks writer twice raved about the EP, a second doubled-down on that enthusiasm. At which point the six-song set kinda demanded still more attention — such was its depth and appeal — but our coverage stopped there lest we hype the damn shit to death. It was tough.

On Tuesday, news arrived that Dust Moth (that’s the awesome band) is set to follow up Dragon Mouth (that’s the ace 2014 EP) with a full album titled Scale on July 22. Its first track (“Lift” below, via NPR) spans nearly eight minutes and hints at a creative unit bolstered not hindered by the hazardous tenor of praise for their first outing. Brace for more of that, treasured MetalSucks reader lol. Lovvvve youuuu Dust Moth.
