Hello MetalSucks reader! Welcome to Sh*t That Comes Out Today, your Satanic bible of this week’s heavy new releases. We list ‘em, we spotlight ‘em, we link you to their preview jams and full streams — and we usually stick ‘em in a fancy Spotify playlist too (below) — all for your jammage! Now crank this shit up.

Phobocosm Bringer-of-DroughtPhobocosm
Bringer Of Drought (Dark Descent)
On a playlist with: Death Fortress, Skáphe, Photocopy
Listen Bringer Of Drought full stream (here)

Sometimes slam gets technical, and then your skull is beating against concrete walls in esoteric mathematical patterns rather than a simple 1-2-3 beat, yet yo brain can’t tell no difference between a rhythmically-complex concussion and just an ordinary concussion, which you will definitely have after listening to Bringer Of Drought, an album so vile and foul and sadistic and enjoyable, etc., ouch.

·

Eleanora AllureEleanora
Allure (Consouling Sounds)
On a playlist with: Norma Jean, Converge
Listen Allure full stream (here)

Purportedly, Eleanora is post-something, sludge, hardcore, and/or something? The pigeonhole-y game does get exhausting. Suffice it to say: there’s a breakdown (a saucy one) within the first five minutes of Elanora. Also on the 11-minute opener: moody yelling and many slow-downs/build-ups, plus a fucking kickass ending. The blend Eleanora has blended is really quite nice (like when after seemingly 50 tries you get the proportions of coffee to water just right, and you take that first sip, and ahhhh how good can it be).

·

Electric CitizenElectric Citizen
Higher Time (RidingEasy)
On a playlist with: Spelljammer, High Priests Of Saturn, Electric Wizard
Listen Higher Time full stream (here)

It’s interesting to watch the upstroke of these obviously-weed-centric bands. They’re not getting spacier, just better. Influenced sometimes by jazz, blues, and/or electronic (or whatever the hell else), albums like Higher Time work on a “higher” dynamic. There’s actually a whole great ton going on for what really amounts to toke-and-choke rock ‘n’ roll. Progressive, even, but in the postmodern sense? *rubs chin*

·

SylvaineSylvaine
Earthbound (Season Of Mist)
On a playlist with: Ghost Bath, Winterfylleth, Obsequeiae
Listen Earthbound full stream (here)

Perhaps the best thing you can spend your money on is quality bedding. You spend, what, one third of your life laying flat on a man-made rectangle? To the point of soft bedding (hint: bamboo sheets and down-alternative comforters and space-foam mattresses): Earthbound is gentle and soft, yet supple and supportive. For post-WITTR black metal anyhow. Fear not, Sylvaine have not been tampered by their gentle tempers, only strengthened!

Nothing Tired Of TomorrowNothing
Tired Of Tomorrow (Relapse)
On a playlist with: who cares
Listen Tired Of Tomorrow full stream (here)

Never give away your natural hope for the occasional surprise. Trite, stereotypical bullshit pervades our lives like some kind of demonic spiritual army with psycho-colonial intentions. Noises, music, whatever, it all chokes and drowns whirlpool-style, subgenres overlapping, commentary becoming more and more just fluff, a bunch of sneeze-juice on the window. Well, Tired Of Tomorrow is thereby the perfect album. Nothing special, new, noteworthy, just a weird sanctuary of sorts. Go there, stay for a while.
