Check Out Hundred Suns, the Deftones-y New Band Featuring Current and Former Members of Norma Jean and Every Time I Die

  • Axl Rosenberg

Hundred Suns is a new project featuring Cory Brandan (Norma Jean), Ryan Leger (ex-Every Time I Die), and Chris LeMasters (ex-Dead and Divine). Based on that pedigree, you could be forgiven for assuming that the band’s music would be chaotic hardcore.

But what’s the point of having multiple bands if they all sound the same, right? Right! So: Hundred Suns have more in common with the Deftones than they do any of the bands for which its members are known: it’s heavy, yeah, but it’s also spacey and melodic. It won’t appeal to ALL fans of these dudes’ other projects, but at the same time, it will appeal to a lot of people who AREN’T fans of these dudes’ other projects. In other words, whether or not you like Norma Jean, Every Time I Die, and Dead and Divine, you should check this out, ’cause you don’t know where you’re gonna fall on this Venn diagram.
