Corey Taylor Undergoes Surgery for Broken Neck; Slipknot Shows Postponed

If you were looking forward to Slipknot’s upcoming tour with Marilyn Manson and Of Mice & Men, you may have to look forward a little further: Friday afternoon, the band announced that they’d have to postpone the first twelve dates of the tour due to “an unplanned spinal surgery” for vocalist Corey Taylor. The trek will now commence in Nashville on June 28.

The reason for Taylor’s surgery?

OUCH! Holy crap. I can’t believe this is only gonna delay the tour for two weeks. I once got a paper cut and announced to Vince that I wouldn’t be able to type for six months. Taylor’s a tough motherfucker.

We’re relieved that all things considered, Taylor is, in his own words, “recovering nicely,” and should be okay in the long run. The singer also promised fans that the shows are being rescheduled, not cancelled — and that Manson will be back for those dates as well. So hopefully everyone who still wanted to see ‘Knot this summer will get to do so.

You can get the original tour itinerary here. We’ll update it when we know the rescheduled dates.
