Kids Cover Classic Clutch Song, Carefully Step Around Lyric About Smoking Weed

So we’ve officially entered the era of kids music programs covering classic metal and hard rock songs. At first, the O’Keefe Music Foundation charmed us with their covers of dark tracks by Tool and Danzig, and we thought, Oh, what a cool phenomenon. But now the School of Rock Silver Spring is getting in on the action.

The Maryland-based chapter of the School of Rock organization has just posted the following cover of Clutch’s “The Mob Goes Wild,” a song with some notably political and insane lyrics. The kids did some smart rewriting, including the line, “Everybody move to Canada and smoke lots of pot,” which was changed to–well, check it out. I would’ve thought those lyrics about adjusting one’s pants and Condoleezza Rice would’ve also gotten taken out, but maybe I’m just a weirdo.

Aaanway, here’s ‘The Clutchlings’ with “The Mob Goes Wild.” Hopefully these kids will branch out and try some more adventurous rewrites, like Cannibal Corpse’s “Unite The Dead.”
