James Hetfield to Voice Some Sort of Flying Amphibian on Upcoming Kids Show

0

Man, James Hetfield’s agent must have told him that the real money’s in voice-over work, because the dude is getting it done. Not only did he make an appearance on American Dad, but now he’s set to voice a character in Netflix’s cartoon of Skylanders, a children’s toy line that has become a huge hit and is now being made into a TV show. Good to see that Hasbro’s dream of the ’90s is still alive.

I’m old and don’t have kids, so I’m not sure this is right, but from what I’ve seen on Google Image searches, Skylanders is about a bunch of smiling animals in mech suits dancing around with weapons, plus Spyro the Dragon. Here’s how Wikipedia describes it:

The game’s setting takes place in a world called Skylands, a realm filled with magic and floating islands. It is the very centre of the universe where it is constantly threatened by dark forces who seek the rule Skylands and gain access to all worlds. Luckily, a band of heroes called the Skylanders use their magical weapons and machinery to defend their world from various threats, which they have done so for generations.

What the fuck is wrong with kids today? Man, why can’t they just enjoy simplewholesome cartoons, like alien robots who turn into cars, or a buff nerd who becomes a buffer steroid casualty inside a castle shaped like a skull where he fights a bad guy who is a buff skeleton? COME ON.

Anyway, no doubt Hetfield will cameo as some sort of heavily-armed manatee or something. Readers with kids, let us know if you overhear a familiar “YE-HAAAH!” on Netflix anytime soon. Then describe your child’s blank face to us when you tell them that was the voice of James Hetfield.
