Joey Jordison Reveals More Details of His Firing From Slipknot: “They Got Confused About My Health Issues”

Joey Jordison’s press tour for his new band, Sinusaenfectun, and his not-really-new band, Vimic, continues!

Metal Hammer has, for the second day in a row, released an excerpt of a recent interview with Jordison — and this one is pretty interesting, be’cause it sheds more light on why the drummer was sacked from Slipknot.

As you are no doubt aware, Jordison recently revealed that he was suffering from a rare neurological disorder, which made it impossible for him to play drums for a time. This news got fans confused — ’cause not too long ago, Slipknot implied that they fired him for substance abuse issues. But as it turns out, the fans’ confusion may simply be a mirror of the band’s own befuddlement:

“They got confused about my health issues and obviously even I didn’t know what it was at first. They thought I was fucked up on drugs, which I wasn’t at all.”

Ah-ha! Well that explains that then. So how come Jordison didn’t just come back after he learned about his sickness and say “Hey dudes, I have a serious health problem, I’m not fucked up on drugs”? It may have something to do with the disrespectful manner in which Jordison alleges he was let go:

“No band meeting? None. Anything from management? No, nothing. All I got was a stupid fucking email saying I was out of the band that I busted my ass my whole life to fucking create.

“That’s exactly what happened and it was hurtful. I didn’t deserve that shit after what I’d done and everything I’d been through.”

Jordison then adds that the way he was fired was “fucking cowardly” and “fucked up.” Which is fair, but, hey, it’s less fucked up than if they’d sent him a singing telegram, right?

ANYWAY, I am still willing to wager a vast sum of money that Jordison will be invited to re-join the band some day. And I am willing to wager a vast sum of money that Jordison will accept this invitation — even if it arrives via e-mail.
