Megadeth Launched a Fake News Website

0

Back in the halcyon music industry days of yesteryear it was commonplace for bands (or their labels) to launch custom websites around the release of a new single or video. Little band-themed playpens, if you will. At least 90% of the time they completely sucked, never to be visited again.

So it’s kinda funny to see Megadeth release a custom website called USA Tomorrow around the release of their new music video for “Post American World” (from their latest album Dystopia). On one hand it’s like “Wow, a band actually put effort into a website in 2016! Cool! Bravo!” On the other hand, I bet this site wasn’t that cheap to make (even though it’s simple) and there is really no reason to return after the first visit — it’s basically just fake news-y headlines based on the band’s most famous tracks with links to those videos — so I’m kind of scratching my head as to why they bothered. And also, it’s Dave Mustaine, so everything is tainted by the knowledge of his whackadoo politics, even if they’re not explicitly expressed here. Then again, here I am talking about, so…

Check out USA Tomorrow and watch the new video for “Post American World” below. Worth noting: this will likely be Chris Adler’s final appearance in a Megadeth video, with Soilwork’s Dirk Verbeuren having taken over drumming duties.

Catch Megadeth on tour with Amon Amarth, Suicidal Tendencies, Metal Church and Havok this fall; dates here.
